Madonna Manor Begins Construction of New Nursing & Personal Care Center
Madonna Manor, an FLC sponsored retirement community located in Villa Hills, Kentucky, began construction in October 2009 on a new nursing and personal care facility. This $30 million state- of- the- art building will consist of 60 skilled nursing beds divided into three “households” of up to 20 residents each.
Forty personal care apartments are also planned, as well as a secured 24- apartment personal care unit specially designed to care for those with memory loss. Future plans call for the development of independent living villas as well as a multi- unit independent living apartment building.
The new nursing and personal care center is scheduled to open in June, 2011.
St. Leonard Partners with Wright State University on Development of New Programs
In partnership with Wright State University, St. Leonard has developed the SAFE “Stay Alert for Fall Event” program to reduce resident falls and employee injuries through implementation of ergonomic processes established utilizing Six Sigma strategies.
In anticipation of a planned new Memory Support Center and facility, St. Leonard is also partnering with Wright State University in researching and developing a best practices model for dementia care and programming.
St. Leonard Selected as Vital Life Test Site
St. Leonard, an FLC retirement community located in Centerville, Ohio, has been selected as one of three beta test sites across the country to develop a new certification process for what is becoming known as a Vital Life Community. This concept, developed by THW Design of Atlanta, Georgia, is designed to create Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC’s) that are devoted to aging well, extending life, and decreasing the effects of chronic conditions.
Providence Care Center to Open New Rehabilitation Unit
Providence Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio, broke ground on a new rehabilitation unit in October, 2009. This 9,220-sqare foot wing will house fourteen private-room suites as well as new state-of-the-art therapy facilities. Other amenities will include an aquatic pool, wifi access, a café, a lounge area with coffee bar and a separate entrance to the unit. It is anticipated that this new unit will be completed by the summer of 2010 and will further position Providence Care Center as the premier nursing facility provider in the Sandusky community.
St. Clare Commons Receives Zoning Approval
The planned development of St. Clare Commons, a new FLC continuing care retirement community to be built in Perrysburg, Ohio, took a major step forward after receiving zoning approval in December, 2009. Efforts are now underway toward the planning and design of this new campus.
The purchase of twenty three acres of land was subsequently completed on January 18, 2010, and will adjoin twenty seven acres previously gifted to FLC by the Diocese of Toledo for construction of the campus.
St. Clare Commons will be developed adjacent to the Blessed John XXIII Catholic Community, a new parish in the rapidly growing Perrysburg area. Preliminary plans call for the construction of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities as well as senior independent living units.
